Do you believe in this thing called a talent/creativity dam?? Happens to me. I will not play the piano for a long time, or forget to draw for a long time, or Foosball. But then when i do start again, more often than not i find that i haven't detiriorated at all, but rather, even improved sometimes. Weird, huh? Those sciencily psocology people gives an explanation: that all this while of apparent inactivity, my subconcious mind is working on it endlessly, without me knowing, linking up new ideas and relevations, and when i get ready to do a paricular skill again, they all just burst out. But then, why the old adage "practice makes perfect"? Does that mean that they are wrong? Lack of practise makes me rusty, but short abstinances also makes me better.
Well, my own theory is that i am just an impatient person, who gets bored of things very easily. If i do a thing too much, i'll get so sick of it that the drive will simply not be there anymore, and i'll just perfrom like a robot, stagnant, never thinking, never improving. However, once i stopped for a while, it begins to look new to me again. Maybe. Hmmm.
Another thought, where did this thought come from, anyway?? I often ask this question. And my friends always groan whenever i start to trace the conversation back to its origins. But then, its so fascinationg. Its not as if we have especially short attentions spans, but the fact is that the concersation keeps changing topics.
We will be talking about horses in the first place then by the end of the conversation the subject will be on, say jellyfish. After going through carriages, egypt, the sun, then space travel, then air, then..... I think its very interesting how the mind can link things together so effortlessly, and go through all the diverse topics of information. Dunno what my friends are complaining about either. I think its a nice subject. Or a topic of discussion.
