Fun Day

Well. I had a really fun day yesterday. Went picnicking at Saint Kilda Beach. One of the few times where i really looked forward to something, and it didn't turn out to be a dissapointment.

It all started the night before, where we went Safeway to buy supplies to make the sandwiches and also buy drinks and other stuff for the day out. There was a brief moment of tension as we pondered on what on earth to buy for a certain picky member of the 'picnic group', but other than that, it went along smoothly. There was a period of time when everybody else was on the phone except for Jon and me, so we both whipped out our phones and started taling to each other face o face, on the phone using our free calls. After we got everything ready, i had a feeling they won't have enough money, so i ran upstairs to withdraw money. Sure enough...... Oh well, at least the sandwiches were 15 dollars under the budget, which is good.

The next day i went down to start making the sandwiches, and joined later by Joshua, June and then finally Jon. We slaved away and managed to finish it by 10:30am. There were still leftovers, so the four of us took care of the spoils, heh. The idiotic thing is that the moment we finished preparing the sandwiches, the people sarted coming down. Sigh. I had to console myself on the fact that any more than four would have been too much help already. The tram ride to the beach was uneventful, except for the time when Jon threw the ball and i started to roll down the tram. Major embaressment. Halfway through the trip, the empty ram suddenl filled up with beach combers, and i was afraid for a moment that we wouldn't be able to find a spot.

When we finally arrived at the place, it was already 12:30. nearly 30 mintes of tram ride. The beach was emptier than i thought. I think most of the passengers went to the amusement park nearby. We ate lunch at the grassy side of the beach. The fun really began wen we decided to play Captain's Ball. Me, Joshua, June, XXL and Sarah formed a team, opposing Keegan, Jon, KerShin, Cynthia and Diane. At first i thought we were going to lose. But then height finally won out, and we devised a good strategy where the tallest team mate would go guard the opposing goal keeper. Smacking the ball away is *FUN*, heh heh. We won, of course. Joshua and XXL made good goal keepers. We won not because the opposing team didn't use this strategy, but rather those that are suppose to defend the goal keepers kept running away from their posts to chase after the ball, leaving the goal keepers with a clear line to catch...

Went cycling after the game, at 18$ per bike, its not cheap, but i shared with Keegan and Jon, so 6$ is still palettable. Ahhh, the first time on a bike after so long is truly refreshing. The speed!! I love it when the wind is whipping in my face. I went on a merry ride, and went crazy speeding up and down the cycling lane. I surrendered the bike later to Keegan, and helped teach XXL to ride a bike. Not much progress with me being there. By now, which few people shared to rent which bike didn't matter a hoot anymore, and most of them are too tired to continue cycling, so i grabbed a bike and went cruising quite far away with Jon. Had my first near-fall then, as i stood up on the pedals and then the road suddenly became uneven. Hurt my ankle too, and i had difficulty walking today. Anyway, when we finally headed back to 'camp', we saw XXL riding down the carpark smoothly, albeit a bit slowly, towards the cycling lane. With one smooth motion, the front wheel turned, and she knocked into the first pole seperating the cycling road from the pedestrian lane. For some reason she always rides staight, but then sometimes will home in enerringly for the poles. Oh well, pretty good for someone who just learned how to ride that very afternoon.

Went to eat fish and chips for dinner after cycling. its already close to six, and a few of us went to the tiny Safeway there. Said Safeway is fairly idiotic, since they don't even have a lane for non-buyers. So we had to budge slowly out. Then Joshua informs me that we are to rush off to the beach again to look at the sunset, which is a looong way away. We ran there with open paper trays of Fish and Chips on each hand, and reached there just in time for the sun to finish setting. Sigh. Anyway, the fish tasted really good, and its very fresh. Even the squid rings tasted good. After that the group got very high(on sugared drinks) and cold. Staggered to the train at 7:30pm and staggered back to Albert House later.

Current Mood: Tired(Yawn~)
